Welcome and thank you for your interest in counseling. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a graduate of Rollins College. Born and raised in Michigan, I am glad to call Orlando home for the past thirty years. My path to becoming a counselor has had many twists and turns. I believe my journey has enriched my ability to provide space for my clients to explore their past, embrace their present and plan for their future. I love my work as a counselor and it is my honor to partner with you to obtain the change you seek.

People seek change when they are stuck – when they are tired of doing the same thing over and over with the same result. Sometimes it feels like we take two steps forward and one step back. Together, we will identify your goals for counseling and chart a path forward to achieve them by maximizing your strengths and implementing effective coping skills. We will work from a systemic approach and draw from various therapeutic theories including CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

We desire to be in relationships that nurture our whole person – heart, soul and spirit. That is only possible when we feel heard, validated and trusted. It is my goal for our counseling relationship to reflect the possibiities of positive relationships with family, friends and intimate partners.
Anxiety can take many forms including: panic attacks, social anxiety, OCD and self-harm. Shortness of breath and racing or irrational thoughts can take over. Mindfulness, deep breathing, grounding, and challenging irrational thoughts are a few coping skills that may helpful.

Depression can be debilitating and "snapping out of it" is not a feasible solution. When sadness takes on physical symptoms (fatigue, sleeplessness, lack of appetite) for extended periods of time, counseling may be helpful.

Whether you are 6 or 96, change can be hard. Counseling can provide a safe space to process the emotions that go with:
- Moving
- Changing schools
- Starting a new job
- Grieving a pet
- "Empty nest"
- Divorce
- Life-changing medical diagnosis
- Retirement
- Death of a loved one
- Our own mortality
Individual counseling provides a space for you to share your fears, pain and frustrations without judgment. The therapeutic alliance is based on empathy and unconditional positive regard and provides a safe space for change. As the client, you are the expert regarding your life and ultimately you are in charge. Sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes weekly or bi-weekly.
Couples counseling is a collaborative process between two individuals seeking to improve communication, foster trust and nurture their relationship with the assistance of a counselor. Mutual trust and respect are emphasized and couples are encouraged to implement techniques and strategies learned in session in their day-to-day interactions. Sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes weekly or bi-weekly.
It is important to find a counselor that you feel comfortable with - someone you can trust with your pain and fear - a space that is judgment-free and validating. I am glad to schedule a 15 minute phone consultation to answer any questions you have about counseling in general and me as your counselor.
